RE: Keystone Outback -- Awkward Water Tank Valve

Easiest solution...
I have the same issue compounded by the fact that my slide out is over the axles as well making it impossible to reach unless I crawl under the slide.
Use your awning pull rod. Slide the circle end over one side of the valve handle and you can push/pull as needed.
No investment needed --- works like a champ!!

I misread this request. I thought you were asking about the grey water valve. Sorry...
That will teach me to skim through a post then try to sound helpful...

RE: Propride 3P hitch - MINE IS SHIPPING TOMORROW!!!!!

Ok.... my install is done. Some business travel kept me from installing it sonner.
Install took about 3 hours, with two phone calls to Sean for some technical assistance. It was really not too dificult. I am loading pics to my website and I will get the pics posted here later today.
The test trip was in short PHENOMENAL!!! The hitch performed flawlessly (after an adjustment to my brake controller). I am very pleased with the investment, the fit/finish of the product... all of it!!
I am headed to Wisconsin for a camping trip tonight - but I will get pics posted prior to leaving.
Sorry for the delay folks - thanks for being patient.
See y'all by the campfire!!

RE: Propride 3P hitch - MINE IS SHIPPING TOMORROW!!!!!

Yes... though the fundamentals of the hitch are the same, there are distinct design differences and some advantages of the Propride (adjustable hitch head, etc).
Sean has extensive experience with both and according to him, the installation of the Propride is far easier.
Pics to come...

RE: Tying down awning

Different strokes for different folks...
I strap ours down using ratchet straps to corkscrew stated springs in the ground about 3-4 feet out from the leading edge of the awning. Takes me 2 minutes to go from completely strapped/secured to fully rolled up. Yes... I timed it. If I can't stake it to the ground... I strap it back to the jack stands - though this is not a good "triangular" support.
I check the weather daily - if storms are coming and I'm leaving the campsite or going to bed - I'll roll it up. Otherwise... it's down when I go to bed at night... and it's down if I head out doing some sight seeing.
Been camping 15 years... never had issue. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones... don't know.
Of course... I'm not one to sanitize the water hose every year either. I guess I just live dangerous... LOL!!!
Regardless - find what works for you - and enjoy the experience.
That's all that matters!!

RE: Propride 3P hitch - MINE IS SHIPPING TOMORROW!!!!!

Just an update... I got my Propride 3P as Sean promised. Man this thing is BEEFY!!!
Very impressed with the welds and the finish after just a visual inspection...
A couple nicks in the paint from shipping but all in all... well packed and protected. I will be attempting the install this coming Thursday evening. Per the instructions: 2-3 hours to complete (depending on how much beverage assistance is required).
I will post pics of the "in process" and "completed".

RE: Colored Fire. Wowed the kids

Just a note regarding the copper pipe vs the pre-made packets...
I was told that the copper pipe method produces a smoke that is potentially noxious. Granted, you are not in an enclosed space - but it could be concern. Whereas the premade products do not have that side effect.
Also, NEVER cook over a colored flame fire. Even after the colors have gone away, I would not suggest roasting marshmellows, smores, etc...
The pipe method lasts longer - but has a nasty side effect.
The premade packets are shorter time burn - but they are safer.
Don't know if this is an "old wives tale" - or not. I just never figured that I would take the chance.
I stick to the pre-made packets.

RE: Propride 3P hitch - MINE IS SHIPPING TOMORROW!!!!!

I ordered mine during the pre-orders.
Ordered on 01 FEB 08. Sean forecasted shipment as early May... so a tad late... but not too bad.
My price: $2547.00 - $500 (preorder incentive) = $2047 (plus shipping)
Couldn't beat that deal compared to the HA.
From the reviews I've read on other forums - the finish and powder coating is one of the large improvements over the HA. I know Sean spent alot of time working with different finishes to try to eliminate that problem that the HA is famous for. One reviewer even typed that he had to make some small "adjustments" with a hammer during installation - and the powder coat didn't chip when struck.
I'll post pics when I get it...

Hey Robbie!! Hope the season is going well for you...
I'll drop you an email once it comes in. Perhaps swing over for a cold beverage and we can survey just how easy Sean's purported "bolt on" installation will be? LOL!!
No reason to wait for pics when you're no more than 10 minutes away...

RE: Cool Mods

Our son Cameron finally outgrew the small Pack-n-Play we used for his crib in the TT. I wanted something a tad nicer... and something that we could convert to a toddler bed as he got older.
PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
Here is our floorplan:
http://www.thelockharts.com/32PRD.gif
I removed the jack-knife couch from the bunkhouse:
http://www.thelockharts.com/DSC_0258.JPG
And installed a convertible crib:
http://www.thelockharts.com/DSC_0318.JPG
This crib will convert to a partial gate toddler bed, and a full open toddler bed as Cameron gets older.
A couple L brackets hold it secure to the floor.
The open spaces next to the crib have become the perfect places to store our bag chairs, thule shelf, and patio mat.
Enjoy!!

RE: anyway to get more pressure from shower?

Another vote for the Oxygenics shower head...
Best thing I ever bought for the camper.
Me and my shaved head were fine w/ the original. But the DW DEMANDED an improvement...
The Oxygenics fit the bill. No more complaints from the DW means I'm a happy camper again!!

RE: Pullrite or ProPride

For years I said I would get a PullRite whenever I bought a travel trailer but when the time came the cost and universal nature of the ProPride won me over and it tows every bit as good as far as I can tell.
Sam,
Do you HAVE your 3P already? Mine is expected to arrive in a couple weeks... I'm anxious to hear/read some reviews from folks that have it installed and are using it.
Thanks!

RE: FloJet (capabilities)

I'm 43' with a 5' rise and a 3/4" hose. No problems in 6 dumps so far. Make sure you wash a lot of clean water back through because the second you take the hose off, the water runs downhill towards you and it takes a second or two to stand up higher than the end of the hose.
LOL!!!:E :E :E
Now THAT is the kind of real life experience I'm looking for...
Thanks all!!

FloJet (capabilities)

Last question before I get the FloJet...
I've seen testimonials that it will pump 100ft+, uphill 2ft, 3ft, etc.
Here's my scenario:
Pumping distance would be 50ft of 5/8 hose... with a total uphill grade of 5ft.
I'd hate to spend $200 if this is beyond the capabilities of the pump.
Anyone have a similar situation?
Thanks all!!
See you 'round the campfire!!

RE: Slideout Awnings

Another vote for Carefree...
We got the SlideOut Kover II w/ the SlideOut Summit option.
That is a REALLY slick system!!!
I won't have a slide cover again w/o the Summit option.
Here are some pics of ours:
http://thelockharts.com/DSC_0264.JPG height=320 width=240
http://thelockharts.com/DSC_0265.JPG height=320 width=240
You may notice in pic 1 that we also got the aluminum cover that protects the awning when it's rolled up... I would not get this option again. Once in awhile, leaves will get stuck in there...
The Summit add on is GREAT
The cover option is good in theory... but not quite so good in application
Hope this helps!!!

RE: Sewer hose carrier - enclosed underbelly

Browns,
I mounted mine on the frame w/ an enclosed underbelly. Pics are below...
I drilled into the frame rails and mounted 'L' brackets to the frame. I sat the PVC pipe on the "L" brackets and used metal pipe strap to hold it fast. Depending on your frame design, you may need to use some spacers to get the "L" brackets past the bottom lip of the frame rail.
